Dear users, partners, and contributors,
It is with some emotion that we announce the permanent discontinuation of the Caroster service as ofNovember 30, 2026.
Despite our efforts and commitment to open-source carpooling, Caroster has not achieved the viability needed to sustain the service and fund the necessary technical upgrades.
What alternatives are available? We recommend Mobicoop, an open-source and ethical solution that offers similar features for your commutes and events.
A big thank you to all the users who have placed their trust in us. Thank you also to the open-source community that has contributed to the project. This adventure is coming to an end, but the spirit of shared carpooling lives on elsewhere.
This ruling does not call into question the activities of Octree. It allows us to focus our resources and expertise on two other projects that are equally important to us:

What alternatives are available? We strongly recommend switching toMobicoop, an ethical, open-source solution that offers similar features for your commutes between home and work and for events.
A huge thank you to all the users who trusted us. We would also like to thank the open-source community that contributed to this project. While this adventure is coming to an end, the spirit of carpooling lives on elsewhere.
This shutdown does not affect Octree's overall operations. On the contrary, it allows us to focus our resources and expertise on two other projects that are close to our hearts:
